I'm not a Trekkie, but that hangar bay is cool! I can't wait to see this one finished. The last one I saw like this was on hobby talk, but we all called it the "discoprise" - because it looked ridiculous with all its' incorrect/excessive lights, and inaccurate paint details (it was over done). It was too bad the guy who built it was so deluded about his building skills - it would've been nice to see it finished properly by a true artisan who would have at least taken the time to do it justice by giving it the correct paint detailing, especially when you take the rarity of this kit into consideration.
That guy was banned from there, and one other place for being a common nuisance. He would blab about himself, and post pictures of himself with his wife with his models, and post links to his website, with an incorrect instruction manual that he wrote about his "wonderful modeling skills as a true professional" - which is why we all laughed at him, not so much for the work he'd done, as that shows a lack of respect, and good taste, but we were more, or less making fun of him for the way he had displayed his models, and for his overconfidence in his abilities. Some of the models he built were great, but this one in particular was too much detail in all the wrong places, which detracted from the enjoyability of the craft. One thing's for sure - he loved his lights, and mirrors!
From what I understand, this model is over two feet long - is yours the same length? Forgive my ignorance, I don't know much more about the DeBoers kits other than what I've heard from other people on hobby talk. It isn't like you can go out, and get one again - they're no longer made.
