I appreciate the kind words. All the hard work in the past year to get the model and display finished in time for WonderFest paid off. It was a big hit. More photos and videos of this model were taken than can be counted. Every time I walked into the room, there were people huddled around it. It was fun watching people enjoy seeing it, as well as talking to people about it.
We just got back from our vacation. The SD model traveled well over 1000 miles. The road got very bumpy at times, but she made it home in one piece (relief)!
What are the plans for it now? Well, Patrick Read Johnson is currently in the midst of a major fund raising drive to finish 5-25-77. If he can, and the film is released soon, then this SD and other models that I made for the film will be used as promotional pieces. This has already happened once. I was interviewed for a behind the scenes featurette, and I built a 'set' that had the SD and three models used in the film as set dressing. They will also be used in any other interviews having to do with the film. I'm also planning on having them displayed in a theater on the eventual release day. After that, I will build a permanent display booth much like the one my second SD was displayed in during the Chicago Museum exhibit tour: http://rickingalsbestudio.com/Part%201/exhibit_3.jpg
