Scratchbuilt Studioscale Snowspeeder

Hi guys I just wanted to share this model I've been working on. It's a replica of the orange snowspeeder, not entirely accurate but still pretty decent, at least I'm happy with it. Here it is in black primer, getting ready to put some color coats on. Appreciate any comments and thoughts.

I love it, your gonna have a great pairing Helio, especially with what you have put into the other bird! Im looking in for that part buddy, looks a tricky one for sure, its very.......nondescript, but you never know!

OK, ill throw this one out there, those parts possibly could be cut from the ordnance rail tips on the drop tank sprue, in the 1/24 Harrier buddy, take a look, see what you think, profile looks about right?

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments, I'm really happy that you like it.
Lee, sorry about the pic. I can see it when I preview the message, so I thought it would be okay. Do you have the numbers for the parts from the Harrier? I've looked through the Harrier and though there were parts that looked close I thought they weren't exact matches. If you look at the pic carefully you can see a tiny lip around the general shape of the part and they aren't all even which seems to me that the part was trimmed away from something larger.

Sorry bud im just a bit distracted of late! Still no joy on that part, but ill get the sprue number when i get home, its a tricky ID for sure!
Speeder looks lovely, what did you apply as a basecoat buddy?

Hey Lee, no hurry on the part, whenever you can get around to it. The paint is Floquil SP Lettering gray. I think it looks good right out of the bottle. I have a few more touch ups to the base coat and then I can get to weathering this speeder. I can't wait.

Here is a pic of it next to a coke can. It has a finished length of approximately 22" with the cannons on.

Nice color buddy, i used that on my ESB ATST! As far as i know, youll not suffer the paint darkening after a few weeks too, as the acrylics really can bite you on the bum in that respect!

Lee, as you can see and as you know this color changes drastically under different light conditions. The first pic was in a bright room with natural light and it appears to be a very light warm gray, the second pic is in a darker room under incandescent lighting which makes it appear more yellowish tan, and the pic attached to this message is under natural light again and it's light gray again. I haven't had any issues with the color altering over time as of yet though I'm sure the color will be altered with the weathering process.

Spot on Helio, it does shift a lot. Mine can look start grey, yet macro it, or change the lighting its very tan, i love that TBH. Its more so using Tamiya acrylics, they darken a lot, and its something I've learnt from Guy, always mix a shade lighter than you intend. the Floquil however, I've not had darken.

Helio, think i may have found them. Airfix Harrier, check the scans on here, seventh pic down, Missile wing ends, its a cone into a two prong part, prongs are cut off, but the profile looks close to me mate!

Hi guys, just wanted to share some of the progress I have made on the paint work. It is going slowly and there is a lot left to do. I haven't really gotten into the weathering just some panel variations and some misting with the airbrush.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys, I really appreciate it. I am posting another small update, still going quite slowly but making a little progress. The panel misting and accentuation is a bit of a pain in that I find myself always going back to fix something or other but I have to do it before I get to the details and markings. Here's the shots let me know what you think.
