ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Ralphee - 06-07-2019 Currently running through some IDs for the ROTJ surface miniatures. I have the small and mid turrets ID'd, as well as a good portion of what is visible on the framed structures, but at present this part eludes me Guessing maybe 20mm or so, maybe 1/700 Naval? Any ideas anybody? Bests.....Lee RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - kbilly - 06-07-2019 Don't forget the helicopters.. the medical frigate has a helicopter part on top. Not saying it is, but the shape just reminded me of a fairey rotodyne. I'll keep and eye out for it RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Ralphee - 06-09-2019 Thanks Kbilly. I'll always take a look at any leads. Made a quick start to the first piece. Some accuracy, some embellishments, a few parts aligned a little off, but just having fun. Really want to get to the turrets soon so I can work in a more accurate mode, as I have good info on the two turbo lasers. Lee RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Ralphee - 06-10-2019 Had a play with some Archive-X Boxcar red and Primer hue. A V2 is already planned in a few days, as I can see many areas to make it more accurate. MPC X wing can still needs to be fitted, just need to cast it. Think I'll carry on with various areas of this surface now. Bests......Lee RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Ralphee - 06-12-2019 All done, in a hurry, this V1 is going to a new home but V2 starts soon. Just went at it at random, following the blurry ref too close will only send you bat shit. Archive-X hues are Boxcar Red, Primer (color) SP dark lark grey, a bit of Foundation, and some pen work. Just need to add the MPC X wing can. I will carry on now this test piece is done on making up a much larger set of assemblies, maybe 12x12" tiles that can be pieced together. Need to also do the illuminated pit. Jase, we could do with a research thread on the ROTJ section for this, as I'll post what info and dims I can fathom out. Lee RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Ralphee - 06-15-2019 Started to have a look at the small turret variants. Quite rough and dirty builds by ILM, but I find them pretty cool. It's been tricky getting the height of them correct, so once this shell is cleaned up, I'll get the rounded sections in, and try figure how many teeth per track works out. Kit parts have been an easy one on this, just getting the darn dims right. Soon as I'm happy to carry on, I'll then mold this to use it several times on the surface display model. Lee RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Ralphee - 06-19-2019 I started out with a whole new pattern. The height, and styrene gauge was way off on the original one I started. This is also the first casting, so I'll move on to its support tower, and start looking at the larger turret next. Lee RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - JAWS - 06-23-2019 Very kool work Lee Thanks for the updates. RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Ralphee - 06-25-2019 Cheers Jase. Managed to get a tower master finished. It's a bit out in the scribing, but doesn't look too bad. Lee RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Turrican - 07-27-2019 Cool! Do you may make a mould out of it? Clould need one for my Y Wing :-) RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Ralphee - 07-27-2019 I did yes. Moving on with the first module too. Not cannon, just an emulation that will work out I think. I can at least get the turrets correct lol. I think it'll maybe end up 5 feet long, 2 feet plus wide when finished. Just something nice to display the towers upon. Lee RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Ralphee - 08-23-2019 Started out on the first mid size tower. Turret to be added. A lot of fun to build and then detail. Lee RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Ralphee - 08-25-2019 Barrels complete. Made some lovely finds on these, super happy as the little plant on parts were a pig to dig up. Lee RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Turrican - 08-31-2019 Looks really really cool and spot on. TOP! RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Ralphee - 09-22-2019 ROTJ Mid sized turret completed, save for a few panels. Many thanks for Marvin for his help and 3D kung fu on this. Lee RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - JAWS - 09-27-2019 Really nice work Lee. RE: ROTJ DSII Surface Structures. - Turrican - 10-04-2019 Really nice an clean work, as always. |
