JAWSMODELS
Studio scale BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Kit
Now Available
This is a studio scale ‘kit’ replica of the original 1979 studio filming miniature.
Acquired from Jim Key of Custom Replicas & designed by Charles Adams, this kit brings to collectors the most accurately detailed replica of the GALACTICA filming miniature available. The model is the result of many years of research & development by many people & culminated by Custom Replicas to create a master piece replica of one of science fictions favourite space ships. The Battlestar GALACTICA.
The kit comprises of an aluminium armature that supports the laser cut acrylic & styrene superstructures. Highly accurate laser etched panel lines & scribing bring the models fine details to life. The kit is detailed with accurate cast resin parts from hundreds of original kit bashed model parts taken from rare vintage model kits. New updated parts sets that were not available with the original Custom Replicas offering are added to the existing parts sets to assure this model is as accurately detailed to the original filming miniature as possible. The Landing Bays come with electronic lighting boards that have flashing running lights & illuminate the Andy Probert art work that the original miniature has in its Landing Bays. Name plates are marked with Dry Transfers as the original was. Choices of GALACTICA, PEGASUS & ATLANTIA are available. Just a brief example of what this kit brings to the collector.
The parts used for the various sections of the kit will remain to be supplied from the same suppliers as Custom Replicas used to ensure the high level of quality remains to this package on all levels.
IMPORTANT FACTS!
• This is a highly costly kit replica.
• Model is over 6ft long & nearly 4ft wide, so make sure you have room for it!
• The kit does not come assembled.
• Kit requires a good level of skill to build & some collectors may want to commission a build rather than do it themselves. Qualified builders can be suggested.
• No production of a kit will commence before a substantial down payment is received. This is an extremely costly kit to produce so to protect JAWSMODELS from financial losses a down payment for production of the kit to begin is essential.
• Detailed instructions & ongoing support to all builders. We have a large support group for anyone building studio scale BATTLESTARS.

Well its early days really.
I believe this will be an option.
I understand there are builders out there that need this.
Also some that would like the kit but can't afford the total layout in one go.

I'd be pretty happy seeing hi res of the original G from back in the day but that one looks pretty damn good also. With what Jase will be able to offer with his kit the builders should be able to improve things a little more even on what CR was able to achieve back then.

Oh and as others have said, great job with that new banner, Scott.

Yes this is so true. Of course if this this is as accurate as it looks, the pictures would help with our builds alot. Especially the plating I was talking about in the other thread. I'm having a hard time figuring out that banding on the nose section. Im talking about that v shaped band that goes across the top and down the sides. Clear pictures of this model will help me on that, and many other places. Many areas are very dark in the original model pics. I wish somebody would sneak into Gary's house and take a gazillion pictures of the Galactica and the Draconia Wink Anybody got a black ninja outfit. I'll do it after I find out if he has a dog or a gun , LOL. Just kidding Gary, if you read this. My ninja days are long past. Glad to see these models end up in good hands. I'm speaking of the custom replicas now. I remember when this model was being built, I snagged some pictures from the website back then, if I remember right they weren't very big. Oh well, maybe now well see some bigger ones Wink Cheers,

Even I have been working on alot of stuff in my shop. Trying to get it ready for some serious work. Got some stuff coming to build a vacuum former. Something I've needed for a while now. As far as I am aware those strips are just styrene, Joe.

That build that CR did is a very nice build but there were still a lot of unknowns they had to fill in with things. There's been much progress with nutting more of the puzzle pieces out over the time which is some of what will make Jase's offering that little bit better again to what had previously been offered.

I'm still one that believes ya really should be looking at the original for how things should be rather than anyones replica but that is just me. No matter how close anyone has got things ya just can't go past the old girl herself.  Smile

Yes this is a second larger article on Jim Key. He is looking forward to this & it will contain the images not yet seen to general public. It should be very interesting. Jim has been in this business for a long time. He even worked for ICONS Replicas back in the day.
I look forward to it.
Never know Phil if JAWS will get a mention. Would be pretty awesome but I don't expect anything.

Wow nice. I'll have to order that one when it comes out. I remember the one they did on Draconia. Loving all this Galactica attention. Can't have too much.

Ok as I have confirmed kit #3 that will be all the orders I take on until they are completed or in the final stages of completion.
The kit was formerly produced by a small team of several people & is now done all just by myself.
So will not take on more than I can handle.
