Display Cases - Red III - 09-17-2012 Hey guys, Do any of you display your models in acrylic cases? If so, do you make your own or do you order them. The cost of a custom case is pretty pricey(almost the price of a nice kit). RE: Display Cases - JAWS - 09-17-2012 Thats the crunch line. You can make a nice squared/rectangular case on your own. If you have the funds & can then get one made. Your finished model is now worth 3-4 X more than what you bought it as a kit. RE: Display Cases - dbhs - 09-18-2012 I've been putting my finished models in cases to protect them. I don't have the tools to cut large sheets of acrylic so I have the case made for me along with a plastic sheet for the top of the base. On these 2 I mounted the plastic base to a sheet of 3/4" plywood with screw attachments for the case. For the shuttle the base is glossy black plastic. On the concept raider the base is acrylic with a mirror finish so the bottom side can be seen in the reflection. I haven't painted the plywood edge of that one yet in that photo. RE: Display Cases - Red III - 09-18-2012 Very Very nice , I think I'm going to do the same thing. I figure If I start putting some of my models in cases my wife won't mind displaying them in the living room. RE: Display Cases - dbhs - 09-18-2012 Good luck. And they'll be protected a bit when objects are hurled at them. ![]() RE: Display Cases - Red III - 09-19-2012 LOL!!! RE: Display Cases - Burton10 - 11-19-2012 Nice post. Thnx for share with us.
