Peza,
That is awesome! Okay...you've inspired me. I'm going to knock some stuff out on mine this weekend! I've been itching to get back in to it...now I'm REALLY itching! Did you scratch the ring, or did you modify something?

Excellent work!

RE: millenium falcon 32" my story so far - peza - 06-29-2014

eh up all.
well im sorry for bein away for awhile again work and home life have had to be my priority..but i started back on my build lastweek.first off i finished all the detail of the dockin ring..
[attachment=16344]
[attachment=16345]

and on the last post i showed the blaster damage,but i gave the dockin ring
a coat of primer and i`m happy with the result with a bit of paint and some weatherin it should look mint.
[attachment=16346]
after that i got the magnets fitted on the back of the base plate of the dockin ring and also on the backin plate on the model which was a bit fiddly
but it worked in the end and it`s came out pretty good.
my next job was to do the blaster/meteor damage first off i did the meteor damege on the front quarter by the cockpit section.i went at it with my dremel and a sharp knife.
[attachment=16347]
and next job was the blaster damage on the other side,i started off with my dremel but i was alittle heavy handed and put holes straight through the skin of the armour platin into the void inside,so i had to glue some solid plastic into the holes and went at the blaster marks again but a little gentler this time and i got the deepth i was happy with.
[attachment=16348]
and the last job i`ve started on the small squares and rectangles which are dotted all over the armour plates,i`ve already done the bottom half but i had`nt done the top so i made a start on that.once i finish it i`ll give it all a coat of primer to see how it`s all come out.
[attachment=16349]
well that it for this post i need to order some more mini magnets so i can continue with the dockin area,but i can carry on with the side details and the other jobs to be done..thanks for lookin...cheers peza

The primer shows some nice clean work there, peza. It's really coming along now that you are at the stage that you're at with it. Looks like lot's of fun adding the blast damage to a mint Falcon. The styrene chippin may not be the case if theres as many as on some other subjects but does add to the look when done. Good job there!

RE: millenium falcon 32" my story so far - peza - 08-22-2014

eh up all,sorry for bein away for so long soft lad had forgotten his password!numb nuts....
BIG THANKS to jase for helpin me out!!!!

well since the last post i`ve been workin on the port side mandible detail,
first off i made the backin plate with the 2 angled pieces which stick out of the top and bottom of the plate,and started sketchin up in rough where things should go.
[attachment=16645]
here is a close up of the bit of detail i already started before i located where my little devils in kids clothes had put it.i made these bits with the carcass of a pen for the panther gun turret lookin bit,white milliput for the axle lookin bit and a mixture of half and 1 mm thick styrene for the rest.
[attachment=16646]
well i just carried on workin my way through all the front end just for ease
of the job and to get more done,eventually i got the front finished off with the addition of one of my kids lollypop sticks(plastic) and one toffee apple stick from the local fair(wooden)and here is an image of that.
[attachment=16647]
and one of the whole front end.
[attachment=16648]
and finally i started but unfortunately not got far on the gearbox end at the back of the mandible,i drew up the detail on the base plate and started to made the new base plate for the gearbox section,i had to break the bit of the build into 3 sub sections just again for ease of the job.here is the base plate with the sketchin on it.
[attachment=16649]
and next the gear box base plate but only 2 parts here though.
[attachment=16650]
here is where im at now,i`ve made the rough shape of the mid section and started drawin and cuttin the circular design of the gearbox.
[attachment=16651]
[attachment=16652]
well that`s it for this post,once i get the mid bit made i`ll do another work update...cheers all......especially you jase BIG HUGS!!
see you all soon.....peza

RE: millenium falcon 32" my story so far - peza - 08-29-2014

eh up all.
here is my next post,i managed to get my mid section finished off
all i`ve got to do is give it a shot of primer.

i carried on buildin the circular bit but messed it up,and evan drawin
out the circles i made a mess of it.
[attachment=16784]
so i dont want people to think im not determined,so try...try....and try again.so eventually i got it drawn up and made a start again,but this time i drilled out the whole circle before i started off with my knife.
[attachment=16785]
well i got it all cut out bar i bit where its covered up with detail.
[attachment=16786]
i then glued it in place and started to make the surroundin bolt placements out of 1mm evergreen styrene rod,filed dont half way on one side.
[attachment=16787]
i got all the little bits finished around the outside.
[attachment=16788]
finally i made the fins and the other bits that are on the top part of the gear box bit and drilled out the circular bolt housin`s to insert the bolts,after the i wanted to see what it looked like in primer,you can see how good you`ve made something once it`s in primer(gap`s become more visible)...well i`m happy with this part of the gearbox so the next post should be the other sections..which one is your guess as much as mine....
[attachment=16790]
well that`s it for this post...see you all soon...cheers pezaSmile

RE: millenium falcon 32" my story so far - peza - 09-15-2014

eh up all.
here is another post on the gearbox section,
well i started off makin the add on's to the circular section.
[attachment=16816]
and as you can see i've started on the back and front details,just out of bits and pieces of styrene and me tried and tested lolly sticks.
[attachment=16817]
next i finished off the back bit
[attachment=16818]

on the front bit i had to take my time due to the amount of small detail involved,where the bolts go it has a curved backin,so out with the lollysticks again.
[attachment=16819]
the next tricky bit was to make up the small grill which i used some half mm thick styrene and some half mm thick styrene rod...this did make my eyes go funny.
[attachment=16820]
finally i put my bolts on and finished off the fins on the top half.
[attachment=16821]
and a shot of primer just to see if it's all nice and neat..
[attachment=16822]
[attachment=16823]

well that's it for this post hope ya like...cheers peza

RE: millenium falcon 32" my story so far - peza - 11-04-2014

eh up all.
well it's that time again i do have to apologize for not posting sooner,i
have just run off with my build for abit.
firstly i got the side detail finished off,using one of my kids broken plastic gazebo frame poles(i didnt brake it,but still dont tell them)...think of the children!pen bits and lollysticks,well here an image of the finished build,it's not bang on to the studio version but as close as i could get it with the space i had...
[attachment=16915]

next i gave it a tidy up and a shot of primer.the next 2 images are of it primered and then mounted in place.
[attachment=16916]
[attachment=16917]
i started to make up the detail by the transmission part and the antenna,but i stopped myself to get a start on the side detail between the cockpit and the dockin ring.i made the base/backin plate which fitted nice and tight,but then remembered that my version is bolted together to gain access to the lights inside if need be.so i had to break the backin plate into 2 pieces usin my magnets again.
[attachment=16918]
so i was workin in a town where they had a maplins(big electrical components shop)for a multi functional switch.which i had the idea of hidin in the detail,and i think that i had the perfect place.
[attachment=16919]
i drilled out the hole and next mounted the switch in place.
[attachment=16920]
[attachment=16921]
[attachment=16922]
so here is where i am now upto date with the detail,i should get some more done this weekend.
[attachment=16923]
well thats it hope ya like....cheers peza

if that would work on my wifeys arse....lol

RE: millenium falcon 32" my story so far - peza - 12-02-2014

eh up all.
well im ready for another update i started on the rear side detail,the process with the backin plate is all the same as the cockpit section i did.
with the breakin the backin plate into 2 and usin my magnets to clamp them together..
[attachment=16949]
next i started on the details,which i used odds and sods around the house and various thicknesses of styrene.
[attachment=16950]
[attachment=16951]
[attachment=16952]
[attachment=16953]
and finally the last image is where im at now,still got some small bits to put on but you get the drift...hope ya like the progress...cheers for lookin..peza

RE: millenium falcon 32" my story so far - peza - 12-31-2014

eh up all,well i finished off the side detail and made a start on the gunner's window area.i had to re make it,the window's where rough so i ripped it out and started again with the whole armour plates aswell.
i removed the glass area filled it flat and made all the plates and this time made the window area a lot neater.
[attachment=16974]
next i started on the gun mount area which i couldn't get the right materials,i had to use brass and styrene.
[attachment=16975]
i made up one gun barrel out of balsa and a friend is gonna cast it for me.
[attachment=16976]
well here's an image of where im up to now,but i couldn't resist to put the side together and get a few shots.
[attachment=16977]
[attachment=16978]
[attachment=16979]
[attachment=16980]
well thats it for this one fellas,hope ya like the progress..cheers for lookin...peza

RE: millenium falcon 32" my story so far - peza - 01-29-2015

eh up all.
well it's that time again,are you ready for an update?

right then first off i got my casts back of the cannon barrels,which are mint.......thank you to a bloody good dude!jaitea
as soon as i started to mock them up i realized that i made them a little
too long,so i've had to loss about 4/5 mm off each one and the only place to do it was off the 3 shaped pieces after the tapered barrels,i found this to take a good while to get each one done.
here you can see that i've done two and still have two to go.
[attachment=17062]
while i was pratting about with the back of the cannon which is joined to the mount i snapped the bond,which isn't the first time i've done it so i had to re-think the two arms. eventually i scrapped the metal parts and just went back to the model shop and bought some styrene rods and cylinder pieces,just because i know that there glued and the bond is much stronger.
[attachment=17063]
next job was to get all four barrels on to the mount.so using some one mil styrene and some evergreen box tube i fixed it into position running some 1mm styrene rod through it,but the fit was to loose and the cannons just wanted to rest on the windows and not stay in position,so i stuffed the box tube with some blue tack and it worked a treat.
[attachment=17064]
finally i decided to re-make the back section of the cannons and the two angular side pieces at the sides of the cannons,this took a little time but they look loads better the first ones i made.
i gave it all a shot of primer and this is it.
[attachment=17065]
[attachment=17066]
[attachment=17067]
and with the cannons fitted.
[attachment=17068]
[attachment=17069]
[attachment=17070]
well thats it for this post,hope you all like the progress.
thanks for lookin...cheers peza Smile

RE: millenium falcon 32" my story so far - peza - 01-29-2015

Cheers don,I've got a few bits to add on the mount and cannons but its pretty much there.
Once again cheers dude!.... Peza

RE: millenium falcon 32" my story so far - peza - 05-21-2015

eh up all,sorry for being away for so long but i've been racing to get so much finished for a show.i took photos of my progress as i was biuldin bits,but i haven't done any posts i'm affaid..well it's time to catch up..
first off i got the other side of the saucer made with the magnets in but i haven't done any of the detail as yet.
[attachment=17253]
[attachment=17254]
next i started to make up the other docking ring which i had to change the way i was mounting it due to the armature on the inside,
so to start off i made the backing plate and cut it in half so if i do open it the back plate wouldn't stop it.
[attachment=17255]
next i made the docking ring shape the same way i made the first one using a mcdonalds becker and give it some armour plating.
[attachment=17256]
[attachment=17257]
my finally bit of this part was to fit the magnets on the backing plate and the docking ring itself.
[attachment=17258]
my next bit was to make something to resemble the engine at the back,it was a cop out but its not fixed in and i am gonna make the proper grilling and engine vents eventually,this is clear styrene with the lite blue scratch proof sheet still on the back.
[attachment=17259]
next i wanted to make the bottom inner jaw detail but before i started i wanted to light up some of the outer detail,so i drilled out the holes inside the detail and put in some 2mm fibre optic.
[attachment=17260]
[attachment=17261]
i covered the f.o's with some black shrink wrap to stop any light leakage and made a little box to put the LED in,finally scratched up the detail and glued it all into place and used some filler round the edges,i've not had chance to sand it down or give it another coat of primer yet but you get the idea.
[attachment=17263]
[attachment=17262]
and now it works.
well thats it for this post folks,hope you like the progress cheers all.
