RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 05-17-2012 PM'd back mate. So an update. I had 5 kits to get out last week & only 1 actually made it. Had some problems with weather & resin not curing which also led to a vital mold being destroyed.... Anyway all is corrected now & in good order. Thanks to those customers that have been patient in awaiting their kits. I believe we are on track now to progress smoothley. Weather depending on the clear parts which unfortunately take at least a whole day to firm up & then some time in the oven to finish curing. So those parts have now slowed casting down until I organise adiquate heating & ventilation!!! I am trying to get these pics up of the landing gear, base & some things I have discovered in building the landing gear to help out with assembley. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 05-17-2012 Ok heres some 'rough' pics of the Landing Gear Down Viper. You will need to take a good chunk out of the 2 lower thrusters to sit flush with the landing gear bays. No worries with the Dremel & cutting disk. This part of the kit require some attention. Ive 'roughly' wacked together these to get an idea how they go together. There are still a couple of fine details for the rear sleds as with the front. The landing gear needs some adjusting to sit flush if wanting it stationary on the ground. I believe it can be secured strongly enough to support its own weight. I highly recomend 'LockTite' super glue for this ort of thing. But get it right the first time....The forward flaps are scratched from spare styrene(not included in kit) Put together right this will be a great version of the Viper. If you have any ref of this filming model please share it. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 05-17-2012 Gawd the extra picture space makes uploading images pretty easy now... Might as well chuck in a couple more of the base & the kits waiting to get boxed once the stupid cockpits can be cast. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - radiant777 - 05-17-2012 Is the shuttle available yet? If not, put me down for one! RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - Darkmoonspirit - 05-17-2012 I think these ref pics from the landing gear are the only one you can find in the www: ![]() ![]() ![]()

RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 05-18-2012 There are about 10 to 12 photos in the Cris Pappas set that show the Landing Gear Viper. I was surprised how many pics of it there were when I looked closely. Their in the extras folders. Now we just need the launch ramp & we're set! Ok so I think I said it earlier but I had been experiencing some issues with weather & resin not curing. I have corrected these problems & all is going smoothly again. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - Gans - 05-24-2012 Me too ![]() Keen to pay for landing version, just let me know when mine is ready. Gans RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 05-24-2012 I will cast the landing gear version this week. Production is slow due to weather. The clear cockpits have been the major problem as the clear resin takes around 12hours to fully cure. Its also very thin & fragile which led to breakage when pulling out of the mold. I habe used mold release on this part to ensure casting & removal is clean. This has helped considerably with 0 wastage now. That part will have to be washed. Carefully. I have 1 more AV & standard Viper to complete then will do the LG Vipers before moving on to the Shuttle. Then the Raider. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 05-28-2012 BREAKING NEWS!!!!!! Moebius now have the rights for TOS BSG products & are producing a 1/35 scale TOS BSG Raider first off the line... I will not be offering the studio scale TOS BSG Raider as the studio scale model is a 1/35 scale. They are apparently also doing a 1/35 TOS BSG Viper. All other models will remain available as there are no plans to reproduce these as of yet..... http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?s=9be04d1fb411a72c133e942ec9f356b3&t=364087 Sorry everyone, this is hugely disapointing. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - dbhs - 05-28-2012 Is there more info somewhere else? There's nothing conclusive about the scale or accuracy. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 05-28-2012 The Moebius prototype is the MSLZ22 V2 Raider. The information was supplied by Mike Salzo who supplied the V2 to Moebius. The information is accurate to date. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - mslz22models - 05-28-2012 Hey guys, just to clarify what is going on, I sent them a V2 castings as a launching off point. As far as i know they are going to make their own pattern by compiling info from a number of sources. I do not speak for them, just want to help them get a start point. From what info I get they want to do a 1/32 TOS raider, a rendition of one, that may not mean every nut and bolt, panel line, kit part replicated from the studio model. I know that may be hard for die hard studio guys to hear but what I guess they will do is their own rendition of the ship that just happens to be 1/32. I do not know exactly what they have planned and in no way intend to say that they won't replicate the studio model exactly, I just don't know that they will. The V2 is close, I know that people have pointed out some of the differences between the studio model and the V2. Some of those like panel lines were intentional tells, at the time almost everything i was doing was being recast and wanted to have some tells. The other thing with the V2 is the bottom intakes. The bottom was largely left over from the CR offering. From what i can gather and what I have first hand knowledge of is that on the studio model the height of the intake side walls was very inconsistent., taller in some places and shorter in others. Part of that was due to the fact that the "floor" seemed to be flat in some spots and curved in others. To make the bottom intakes consistent thru the length of the body, it looks like the high spot of the side walls was taken, and built symmetrical from there. That changed the overall height of the bottom, changed some of the angles a bit, and even moved the exhaust ports a bit. It's one of those things that once you head down the road of changing something for the sake of symmetry, you just kind of have to deal with where those changes take you. Same thing happened on the viper, once i straightened out the engines and leveled them out (they kind of pointed inwards a bit and were not totally level with each other), they led to all types of changes, the backplate got a little bigger so the grebblies did not fit the same way, the bottom tray got a little bigger etc.... I do not know how they will tackle the intakes, I made them aware of the process above. I think that even if it's not a die hard 100% studio accurate kit, it will still be an amazing model, I can't wait to get my hands on one.... mike RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - darkimmitator - 05-28-2012 Wow , a very interesting turn of events !! Congrats on your contribution to the developement of this model with Mobeius , Mike . Hopefully they stay true to the Studio accuracy ! RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 05-29-2012 Thanks Mike. I guess we'll just habe to wait & see what they do with our Raider... RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - mslz22models - 05-30-2012 Thanks, and sorry i had to keep it a secret for so long... RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - KrokoHunter - 05-30-2012 Jase ... perhaps you shouldn't as such drop the Raider right now, but just put it on hiatus, until we know how well rendered and studio accurate the Moebius Raider will be ... No secret ... If the Moebius Raider is really good, and really close to the Studio Model ... sure I'll go that way, would safe me some money for some of your other BSG kits .. But on the other hand .. if the Moebius suffers from scaling issues, and wrong detailing .... I might as well stick to the garagekit :-) RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 05-31-2012 We'll see what happens. If Moebius do the 1/32 Raider then its on the shelf. I have shipped the last of the first load of standard Viper & Antique Vipers today. I will now start on the Landing Gear Vipers. Kits will not be cast until I recieve confirmation from PayPal of payment. I will send a pm to those on the list for these to proceed so I know how many Im actually shipping out. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 06-01-2012 Payment received wombat. Ya cheeky bugger. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - Wombat - 06-02-2012 You forgot to add "slack" before the bugger! ![]() Just on the Raider, i agree with Niels. The resin kit may still have plenty of life for us builders. It'll come down to just how accurate Mobius make there styrene kit. I have doubts that it'll be as accurate as the resin kit is but until they show there product it's all just guessing really. If it's less accurate i think the SS builders would still probably prefer the garage kit personally. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 06-02-2012 It'll come down to the scale. Regardless of any detail on the model accurate or inacurate the scale is the only thing really that would make me pull the kit. As gararge kit makers we have to let the corporations have their rights. Its only through their 'blind eye' that we are able to make these kits available. If the Raider comes out at 1/32 its done from available inventory through good will & I hope smart business practices. Lets just concentrate on the others for now. Theres still plenty of other models on the list that haven't been done ;} RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - Troy Downen - 06-03-2012 Well, the mailman slowed down slightly as he drove past the house today and tossed a box out the window. As it rolled to a stop in the driveway I was excited to see that my standard Viper had arrived! First impressions out of the box are that this is a BIG kit. The nose / mid fuselage section is a hefty hunk of resin. There’s a lot to this kit. ![]() There are a few things I want to highlight. First are the castings of the guns, which include a brass rod down the center for strength and detail. Nice! ![]() Second are the pilots, of which there are three. One is obviously a jet airplane pilot cast from a standard plastic kit. This, I believe, is accurate to what the studio scale model would have featured. But second and third you get opaque white and clear resin pilots accurate to the uniforms worn on the show. The clear resin pilot is a nice feature in case you want to build lights into your viper pilot helmet (I’ve seen it done – very impressive!). Clear castings appear free of bubbles and are very CLEAR. Excellent work on the part of Jason. ![]() I took a close-up photo of the viper pilot helmet and manipulated the contrast so that you could more easily see the detail. It’s really amazing – very impressive! ![]() The final, and really stunning part of the kit in my opinion is the display base. The decoration, accurate to the BSG viper pilot helmet, is just beautiful. Worthy of display by itself, really. ![]() By the looks of it, this will build up into a fantastic and accurate representation of the studio scale viper. It will be a real conversation piece and show stopper. I can’t recommend this highly enough. Nice job with the castings, Jason! RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - daverep - 06-03-2012 Got mine yesterday. It's an amazing kit. I'm going to completely echo what Troy commented on. Especially the size! There's no sense in repeating what he already posted so, I'll just throw up a couple of different photos that I took. Was giddy when I got home from work and saw this stuck inside our storm door. ![]() Box was packed VERY well! ![]() The only casualty I had was the base, it had a very small crack in it, but it can be easily fixed simply with some CA glue. I think eventually I'll try my hand at building a launch tube, so down the road, I may find another use for it since it's an amazing piece. ![]() Here's the full kit completely unpacked and laid out. ![]() Not only does the clear resin pilot look great, but so did the clear resin cockpit. Mine is just a little skewed, but nothing that a bit of heat won't take care of. ![]() Bottom line, I couldn't be happier with the kit. This will be the largest kit that I've put together and will also be trying to light this beast. Jase, congrats on an amazing model and I can't thank you enough for making these available! I'm looking forward to seeing some build threads! -Dave RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 06-03-2012 Wow fellas thanks so much for your kind words. It really makes the effort I thought Ive put in really worth it. I also can't express how releived I am that the kits I have put out have been well received. Theres a certain amount of stress you get going into a new business venture until you get the feedback to work on. Cheers fellas & enjoy. NOTE# The Black T Strip is to complete the forward canopy frame. The base of it is cast into the fuselage & just need to add the angles. The wire is for the pipes at the back plate that are not there. I also just recently, like last week realised we need some C/U Channel for the little latches on the rocket section. I will post some ref when I can. Oh & the brass is brass tubing on the guns so you can have open barrels. Dave your box got a beating mate! Can't believe the base got a crack. I can send you another one mate if you want no problem. Again thanks for the kind words & its back to work for me. RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - daverep - 06-03-2012 (06-03-2012, 06:32 AM)jase72 Wrote: Dave your box got a beating mate! Jase...yeah, it DID take a bit of a beating! I've had worse, but definitely the trip from Australia to the US East Coast certainly took it's toll! ![]() No worries on the base. I appreciate the offer, but it's really just a minor crack that I can fix without any problems whatsoever. I still may be relatively new to all of this, but if I can't repair a small crack like this, then I should just hang up my X-actos and glue and find another hobby! ![]() Thanks again and I'll more than likely be in for a shuttle when you get around to them. If it's anything like this, it'll be incredible! RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 06-04-2012 Dave I will definately make sure all kits are packed as safely as possible when I see that. I get a lot of packages & they never get battered like that here. Heres some pics of Mike Salzo's Landing Gear Viper. I had to resize them as his pics were massive. Im just finishing up some Sea Lab parts & will cast up the LG's. I want to adjust a couple of parts so will take me a little longer to get them out. Shouldn't be much though & you know where to find me.... RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - Wombat - 06-04-2012 That is one cool looking bird! Looking forward to getting mine for sure. Sea Lab parts, are you doing the G parts at the same time? Theres one part i know i still need from that kit but i'd be happy to pay for a full set of G parts if thats ok? RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 06-04-2012 I still have a few mate, no need to worry about that. Yeah she is a nice model & I like it the more I see reference of it ay mate. Your #1 on the shipping list so it will be there pretty soon with some other stuff. I figured out that the picture sizes was afecting my lap tops ability to load pictures which has stopped me from loading up! As I like to... But Im back! Loose amongst the cyber world of reference & research again. Wohuuharharrahahahahahahahahaahaha!!!!! That sounds great mate! I'm glad you got them pictures sussed, these ones really show off how this version will look when all done. I'm with you as well, the landing configuration is really growing on me also and it is very much a SS replica as it appears that at least one of the Vipers was built this way for the show. There also appears to be one built with the front gear missing and i'd dare say that was used for the Starbuck full throtal landing sequence from the pilot episode. Really liking the look of it and already have some ideas for the build up as you know. ![]() Ken, you are becoming a BSG junkie!! ![]() RE: J.A.W.S Models SS BSG Viper, Antique Viper, GAL Shuttle 356, & Raider Kits - JAWS - 06-08-2012 Becoming.
