That is one hell of an achievement!

And being so light you could put one of these in it, if only they weren't so hideously expensive Smile

RE: Mensa 32" SS Falcon - Simple - 01-28-2012

Hmmmm. Looks like some kind of levitron. Rare earth magnet in the 'carrier' a coil in the base . . .

Impressive weight amounts they claim to be able to float. Depending on the final weight of the model (I'm just starting to research my build - no idea about they weight of a 32"), this might be a nice DIY project. Let do some reading.

Your killin me.....

RE: Mensa 32" SS Falcon - LastBattlestar - 02-02-2012

Oh yeah, go for it Cory!

The levitation magnet is a fantastic idea. Just don't leave it on, leave the house and come home to find your Falcon in pieces after a power failure!

RE: Mensa 32" SS Falcon - JAWS - 06-21-2012

RE: Mensa 32" SS Falcon - Mensaboy - 08-29-2013

i am here, the falcon remains untouched for a year but it is by no means gone it is my only current hobby and will remain so until completion
i have all the usual excuses (family, work, money, etc.), and i apologize for my long hiatus

i just finished a bed/bath/laundry room in the basement so i have to do a major overhaul of my workspace - i will be back on the falcon in November

love you guys

RE: Mensa 32" SS Falcon - redeye - 03-21-2014

last update from mensaboy was nearly 6 months ago, wonder what the progress is or if any on this... :-(

RE: Mensa 32" SS Falcon - wizardofthenorth - 04-24-2014

No need to apologize for any hiatus on the project, especially when it comes to real life. Having said that...with Deagostini coming with an SS(ish) option, I am wondering where this stands as an alternative.
