Good to see you get some time to plug away again on this one. The weathering is a lot of fun on this subject and it looks like things are coming along nicely there already. Keep at it now that ya back on it though as it'll be fantastic to see it finished at last.

Here's a small update. Still working on the weathering of the forward module. Just watercolor washes, no pastel work yet.

Very nice.
I like the "crude" weathering, very typical of the show period.

Are the colors and weathering accurate to the studio model ?

Your build is tempting me for one too. Is it the model that can be found on MiM ?

Olcabour there are 2 kits of this model.
One is from Shadowknight & the other is from Chris Larson of Larson designs/Lunar Models who frequents this site.
Go's by the name of 'Snake Plisken'

Hey TJ are you still producing the Colonial Movers Kit?
If so how about putting a sales thread in the Market Place for eager beavers to have a chew on?

Thanks, Olcabour. I'm trying to make the colors and weathering as close to the studio model as possible. Of course the colors of the weathering are very subtle and look slightly different in each of the photos I have depending on photo age and whether flash was used, etc. It does look just a little "too colorful" at the moment but these will tone down once I do a pass with the chalk pastels.

FYI, Olcabour, The one I'm building is the Shadowknight kit and has been great to work with. Very accurate to the studio model.

Done with the watercolor washes finally. It's kind of interesting at this stage before the pastels go on. A little too colorful. The mixing palette shows the range of colors I used.

That is one filthy module.. Just the way we like em!

It'll be nice to see it toned down with the next process which will tie everthing together on the weathering front. Has a bit of that pop art look to it in the top down shot. It's sorta been a good lil step by step for those interested in it. You are nearly there with this section and things are looking good so get into it and smash through that last bit there.

Well, after several years so far working on the CM I decided to put it aside for a little while. The main body is all done but the cargo containers are needing paint and weathering. I've just gotten too burnt out on it to push through for what would would likely be at least another year to finish it. For now it's in a permanent home displayed as-is with cargo containers sporting dull green primer. Once the mood strikes me I'll get back to it.

The burnout is a killer for sure and i guess we all go through at times. If you're not enjoying it then taking a break from it is the best thing really. It look great where ya at with it though so hopefully the motivation for it returns again soon. The case looks great that you have it in also and it's well protected now for when you are ready to splash some paint on them containers. Hopefully not too far down the track mate..

Fortunately I'm not burnt out on modeling, just this specific model. I'm looking forward to getting back to the warp sled & shuttle and some scratch building.

All weathering and no building makes Doug a dull boy !!.... or something like that.

Those displays are a class act Doug, very clever! Such a cool display idea.

Cat proof too, which would be a good idea at our place, although the Galactica would require a bloody big case to be hung on the wall. Undecided

I told Nikki the other day that the cat will have to go when the G is done. Ninja should be safe for a few more years...

Thanks Mike. I've been putting all of my completed models in cases and mounting them on the walls in my work room. It's been a great way to keep them protected and out of the way. A case around the Galactica would be huge. You'd pretty much have to treat it like a piece of furniture. Maybe a massive coffee table would be a cool way to display it.

Cat vs. Battlestar...... mmm choices.
