That's a DAMN JUMBO LED! That was shot in room light? That damn thing actually caused me to go "blind" temporarily when I naively glanced straight at it??? Really. I mean I know it's a 10mm jumbo and it is running off of 9V. But it's got a "good" resistor on it as well?

Doubles as a flashlight I tellya! Tongue

OK,you guy's have been having fun and i'm only checking out the Duck Progress,now.
Helmet wearing dark one,i understand the sidetracking,it happens but you gotta stay on target mate!! Wink

What you've done there is looking good my friend,it's a nice start and it already looks far betta than the new fresh look.Knowing your work i think it's gonna turn out just great dude! Cool

Now,no looking at that LED no more,hell,i know ya good when ya build but using just a blindfold will be easier than trying the total blind method surely?
All i can say is i'm glad you didn't fit laser's to it as well!! Rolleyes

Meanwhile on the bench, the canopy and guns were detailed and finished up while the final spraying, of blast marks and engine "soot" were wrapped up.

I'm not surprised though,i've seen your handy work on more than one occasion now and this is no different.
What technique's have you been using to dirty this bird up?

Hey buddy!

I think we covered "most of em" with this one?

Paint:
Lacquer
Enamel
Acrylic

Washes:
"Sludge", Acrylic color with dishsoap and lotsa water to thin.
Oil paint, thinned with turpenoid.
Ink, thinned with alcohol.

Chipping:
Pre masked with the old OOP original BareMetal brand adhesive foil- It tears nicely and gives more in scale results.
Or, Base color in lacquer oversprayed with enamel then pulled up with sticky tape.

And some selected drybrushing.

But of course strived to keep "layers" where they belong. For instance- don't achieve chipping by topcoating with primer and silver. Instead, paint them first and then get back down to them so paint is actually thinner/lower, in those areas.

And of course, pastels.

Hopin to wrap this one up tonite! Angel

Not saying tha'll be a first,but it'll be one of only a few of these awesome build's that ya started that i can think of! Tongue

You got a bench covered in awesome build's that have all had some Duck treatment done on em and hopefully we'll see some more of them soon?

Oh fuck, you wanna laugh?
I was digging through the stash to come up with a few markings for the A-wing and I found a long lost box containing a 1/1000 Bonaventure I had been working on! I think I'm gonna have to finish that one off and let it see the light of day! Tongue

OK,i had a chuckle,but the sad thing is i don't even know what the Bonaventure is.It sound's like it must be a boat if it's 1/1000 scale though?

The Bonaventure, NCC 1000, from a ST Ships of the Line calendar a few years back. Just possibly my alltime favorite Trek ship design! I'm gonna resurrect it and you'll see it soon. Wink

A final tweeking was needed on the canopy assembly which once I had glued the "glass" inside the frame caused it be more rigid and no longer fit as I had tested it prior to paint.
So I fashioned a shim which once glued below the framing allowed me to sand and fine tune it.

The canopy now snaps down into the trench and remains removable in case you want to turn/elevate the pilots head or just see the instrument lights display easier.:happy

Next, I'll work up the final display shots.
