Hey Hoomans! here are some pics of the AQ with a base coat of 50-50 reefer white and grime, which gives it a dingy old white color, now in the pics it looks kinda grey, i dont know why unless i have a filter on my lens, but i swear to yall that its kinda off white ! LOL!
The markings i have painted are the grey, next wekk i will attempt the red and blue graphics, i will have to hand paint them on!
Okay, i had a filter (UV) so i took it off and took new pics.

Couldn't view this update you posted until i went and changed my settings once again. Least it's not only my thread it happens in i guess.

Bloody hell Jerry, that is seriously looking the goods mate. The colour mix you went with looks just fine to my eyes. Looks even more impressive than it already did! The markings you've applied also look nice and sharp. Great job with everything so far.

I know it's not gonna look like that for too long once the weathering goes on but if that goes as well as the rest then it'll be a fantastic looking build when done.

Thank ya brother Phil! Yeah, the base color looks real good on this ship, and i will hazard a guess that a bunch more of those ships were paintd the same too.Im real ervous about doing the graphics on this, the ship burned up a lot of paint getti ng into all of the cracks and creveses, i really dont have enough to cover my goofs!

Well you can always buy some more and mix up another small batch if needed. You have the perfect paint chip there to match against and you already know the colours required to get the same shade. Don't think you have to much to worry about really. End of the day if it's out by a shade or two no one will ever pick it once the weathering is in place. I doubt you'll even be able to remember what was touched up down the track. Again, looking great mate! Cool

Thanks jase! Sorry for the late reply! been hell the last 2 weeks at work, weve had a lot of orders to go out before the holiday weekend and they wanted everything to go out before then, and have been working 12hr days.
Im going to start laying down some pencil marks where i will mask the graphics, and then i will use a liquid mask for the most part around the dome then use some tape.

Okay, ive finished the graphics on the domes, it was rough and took me about 6hrs to do, even though i had to redo it twice, grrr.

Thanks you everyone! This is a real cool build, and ya know it wasnt expensive at all compared to some of those SW builds, even though it was the same guys! So, if any one would like to build themselves one and needs some help, i will be around!

Jase, i hope you will take me up on that, this has been a fun build, so much so, that i want to build a prison barge, but i need another wostok dish, can anyone make a casting of it? i will buy it from you!
I have 2 domes that i had bought and were the wrong ones for this build, and i think i will use the sub hulls from the lion fish, and rig up the rear engines the same as the colonial movers, that is where the missing engines went.
So, it will look similar to the AQ but be different ?

It sure is Phil, it was a silver grey color. im stoked about doing the PB, to make this studio accurate i would have to build the AQ again and then modify it, THIS way i can utilize the spare parts that i normally wouldnt use for anything and still have a cool looking ship. It will be about the same length (27") or,70 mm?. the same width and height.
I will probably use your build picks for the engine from the colonial movers.

No masking Doug, its All hand painted, no airbrush, i tried to do that but i messed it up and had to redo it, and decieded it would be better the other way!

Okie dokie, no pics yet, buuutt, there will be after i add some new stuff to the queen, I know that Steve36uk and i have IDed a few of the stuff right off the bat and the stuff im going to add to the queen will be just plant-ons, no major surgury, if this ship was mine i would do it in a heart beat lol!

those pics have opened another door to this ship, as to the paint and parts and history, those pics show the livery before the TV show, or should i say that is the movie version, then there were mods done when ILM left and Appogee crew was made, then again when Universal Hartland was formed for Buck etc...
So, with the release, of those said photos, i can see a few other ships to build in the future!
I have a "friend" that is supposed to send me some great pics of the AQ in the PD livery!

A couple of bits on the engine (on top of the Leopold deck) -one looks like front of a plane with sprue not removed-other seems to be a front off a tank with the mercedes engine glued on top,-and the bit on the end of the F4 engine-looks a bit like one of the Vostock engines but it's too rounded.

yeah the part under the mercedes axel is of some armor piece, it has rivits, im thinking that the little part that is attached to the PoW mast might be part of the prop shaft support?
The piece on top of the leo part looks familiar, maybe off something used in SW, and the part on the F-4, is it off of the Vosper? i dont know why that came to mind.

Some thoughts.

The U shape piece in the middle looks like something found in the JPS kit, 1/12 or perhaps 1/8?

Agree the part at the back looks like something from a jet plane engine.

The dome part on the end of the F4 engine maybe one of the clear bubbles from the B29 kit. Would need to check size against the F4 engine.

The part under the mercedes axle looks like part A #76 in the tamiya 1:35 scale 88 mm gun flak .The part undr the piece that is c shaped also looks like part A # 32 from the same kit .

After looking at the picture better i don'tknow what i was thinking. It's not even a dome on the end of the F4 engine..

Pretty sure the U or C shape part depending on how you want to read it is a JPS part.

Well the 1/12 Tamiya JPS certainly IS used- the triangular plate on the engine top is part G1 and the curved part on the engine front is G5:-

And the F4 dome is the back of the drivers helmet!!!
